What does getting into the outdoors look like to you?

Image
To me, getting into the outdoors is simple. To others, this may be a little difficult. However, it's simpler than you may think. To me, getting into the outdoors consists of going out into the badlands and hiking for mule deer, or walking the plains in search of pheasants and other upland game. This can also mean hitting the lake in search of walleyes or whatever bites. This, however, is not the only way to get into the outdoors. Simply getting on your bike and heading to the park is an easy way of getting into the outdoors. Heading to a local park or national park and going for a hike is another way. Getting into the outdoors is very enjoyable, and very beneficial to the human heart and the soul. When I'm out, I feel relieved. The great outdoors clears my mind and shows me the true beauty of the world. It feels like I'm in another world and that's something I want to push onto everyone. Even going to the park and talking a walk is very releasing. Just getting outside ...

What single picture inspires you the most, and why?

I have seen many various scenery's in my lifetime already. I have fished throughout North Dakota, parts of Canada and have even fished in Alaska. I have hunted in Wyoming and here in North Dakota as well. I have hiked in Montana, Alaska, and throughout the badlands here in North Dakota. I have many pictures as well, but one of my favored pictures I have taken, is one I took on a Mule Deer hunt in the North Dakota Badlands.  Some people may wonder why I like going into the outdoors so much. In all honesty, it's for views like this. It's the act of getting out into nature. Not all scenery's are like this. However, when I'm standing here overlooking the valleys and the plateaus and such, I feel energized. I feel relieved. Every sense of stress, thought, emotion clears my head and my mind simply goes blank. The feeling I have when I'm out in the outdoors isn't comparable to when I'm at home or elsewhere that I know. I truly feel myself when I'm out in n...

How exactly can a person's go-to hobby help them in life?

Image
I recently came across two articles that I believe help show some incite as to why being in the outdoors is beneficial. One of the sites,  fs.usda.gov "The wellness benefits of the great outdoors" can be accessed  Here . The other site is by draxe.com "6 Health Benefits of Being Outdoors" can be accessed  Here .  The above picture was taken by me when I was on a hiking-camping trip in Montana. The day consisted of hiking through the Bear Tooth Mountains, stopping and enjoying the scenery, and as well setting up the campsite and enjoying quality time in the mountains. This is a prime example of how I relate to the top two listed articles. On this trip, I felt relieved, and the weight of the world disappeared. This happens as well when I'm out hunting, fishing, or even just being outside. I feel that people lock themselves inside a community too much and don't experience their life outside of their home or community. The biggest thing I get out of being in th...

How can a hashtag like #outdoorledlife get you outside?

Image
This hashtag is one I created to help inspire people to get into the outdoors. The goal of #outdoorledlife is to get people to post their experiences outdoors and to create a community of outdoor led people! I wanted to create a community of people that show their passion off and to inspire others to get into the community of living outdoors! I know I enjoy being outdoors, and I know others do as well. That is the goal of this whole campaign: to get you into the outdoors and see what the environment has to offer! Nature can be so relieving and gives you opportunities that you will not normally encounter. Whether this be hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or even going for a walk, getting outdoors opens you to a whole new world of experiences. These experiences are good for the soul and your mental well-being. The goal of this hashtag is to get people to post, link the tag, and open viewers to a firsthand experience of what they're missing out on!

How does camping serve others?

Camping serves others, because camping allows people to get out and experience a new environment. Camping allows people to learn and connect with mother nature, and as well learn how to use their environment. When I go out camping, I feel reconnected with nature. I feel disconnected from society, and the feelings of everyday stress with school, work, etc all just go away. Camping gives so much pleasure that can only be felt when you are out there experiencing it yourself. I like to camp at my family's cabin, however, to some this really isn't camping. That whole idea doesn't bother me too much, however, do whatever you feel is most comfortable to you. You can camp in a cabin, or you can rough it out and use tents. You can also meet in the middle and use campers! Whichever style you choose, this is entirely up to you. I've camped in cabins, tents, and even campers. Camping in tents sure is fun. I would recommend doing it at least once or twice. One of my all time favori...

What is one of your most memorable experiences in nature?

Image
With being an outdoorsman, I have quite a few memories of being in nature. However, there's one that stands out the most to me. This experience took place during the fall of my sophomore year of college. I received a mule deer buck tag in the 3B2 unit of North Dakota. Within this unit, I hunted north of Killdeer North Dakota right beside the Little Missouri State Park, just north of the Killdeer mountains. This hunting trip, my dad and I rented out a cabin within the state park from a family whose land we also hunt on. Nothing too fancy, but a nice little wood cabin for a father-son hunting experience.  The hunt started early in the morning, 30 minutes before sunrise. We wake up around 5am to get our morning coffee and breakfast in before a quick morning drive followed by hiking throughout the badlands. We didn't see much for deer activity that morning, so we parked our ranger and began our day hike in search of the elusive mule deer of North Dakota. Some people think this is...

What is your leadership campaign, and what cause does it serve?

Image
Hello everyone! My name is Matthew Meschke and I'm an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fish, camp, and overall enjoy nature. My goal with this leadership campaign, "Outdoor Led Life", is to show people that there is much more to the outdoors than just being outside. I want to show people the true beauty of nature whether its hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, etc. Even if you're not an avid outdoorsman like I am, that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy being outside! Basically, just get out into the great outdoors and enjoy the natural resources that we are given. I have been out in the wilderness multiple times regarding various different terrains.  The outdoors is like another home to me. When I'm outside hunting, fishing, hiking, etc, everything I feel goes away. The feeling that I get while being outdoors is surreal. It's honestly hard to explain without experiencing it yourself. It's more about just getting out there and doing a hobby that...
